Foxconn

Foxconn – largest contract manufacturer in the world, for electronics ranging from Apple iPhone to HP Printers.

Ayoka was involved in the launch of the Apple iPhone. Ayoka developed a custom Java application (Spring, Hibernate, Oracle) to process repair service orders sent via EDI messages and queued them up for work on the manufacturing shopfloor. Each iPhone repair order originated from Apple’s SAP system (Web Dispatcher). Once phones were received, Ayoka’s software notified Apple’s SAP system and Ayoka’s software updated status as the phones progressed through different stations at the shopfloor. In addition to user input, this application integrated with equipment (e.g. laser etchers, Agilent test gear, ZPrinter, etc.) to track and display status. Once the phones were repaired and tested, Ayoka’s software integrated with FedEx to determine shipping charges and generate labels, then Ayoka’s software updated Apple’s SAP system with the tracking number. Based on the repair operations performed on the shopfloor (services and parts repaired or replaced), the software generated XML claims files to Apple for Foxconn to calculate receivables.

“Offering such a wide range of custom applications is rare…[Ayoka’s Services are] hard to find,” “Those are truly custom applications, and there are only a few companies out there that do that. You have to really look to find them. Many companies will simply try to develop the capability in-house. The need has been around for years — there just hasn’t been anyone doing it.”
-Joe Crosswell, manager for the technology solutions group at the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center in Arlington, TX (quoted from article “Made to Order” by Margaret Allen, Staff writer, Dallas Business Journal)

PatientsKnowBest.com

Patients Know Best (PKB) is a network for patient health record (PHR) practitioners.  PKB wanted a web-based application that will allow individuals to retrieve knowledge about their patient records through the integration of their PHR results and a wiki managed and maintained by PKB. Ayoka developed this application using Ruby on Rails with a MySQL database.

“It was a pleasure to work with the Ayoka team on my Patient Medical Records web application. They were responsive, the design was great, they stuck to my budget, and an independent code audit I did later showed they created high-quality code. I highly recommend Ayoka.”
- Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, Founder, PatientsKnowBest.com

Brim Laundry Machinery Co., Inc.

Founded in 1970, Brim Laundry Equipment Company manufactures and provides equipment, parts, and services to commercial and industrial laundries for markets spanning linen supply, industrial, dust control, apparel, and specialty applications. Brim contracted with Ayoka to develop production monitoring and automation software for different laundry equipment (washers, dryers, shuttles). This .NET / SQL Server based application used Ajax (asynchronous JavaScript and XML) to refresh specific areas of the web user interfaces, e.g. temperature gauges, motor speed, in order to display one-second data collection intervals from microprocessors. Ayoka performed the full range of software development activities, including services to identify, collect, and manage data for business intelligence reporting and systems integration. Today, Ayoka provides on-going IT support and maintenance.

“… Ayoka is moving companies – especially small to midsize manufacturers – forward to the state of automation where they can control how to tie the front end of the process – i.e., the sales order entry piece – into the production flow, and then into the output side, including control of accounting and shipping. ”
-Rona Shuchat, program director of application outsourcing services for Framingham, Mass.-based IDC

Snider Advisors, Inc.

Snider Advisors is a Dallas-Fort Worth based registered investment advisor whose primary goal is to teach people how to manage their own retirement savings using their proprietary investment strategy, the Snider Investment Method®. As of September, 2008, Snider Advisors actively managed $90 million in assets and consulted on an additional $320+ million their clients manage themselves, using the Snider Method.

“[Our previous] provider wrote an application that required a great deal of day to day maintenance. Ayoka updated and improved the application architecture, resulting in less maintenance time and increased productivity savings. We didn’t even have to hire additional employees to replace those lost to attrition.”
- Jesse Anderson, Trading Manager, Snider Advisors

Connectivity Technologies, Inc. (ConTech)

Since 1997, Connectivity Technologies has served the Data Center industry by designing, building, and installing fiber optic and copper infrastructure systems. Ayoka developed a connection and asset management application, Genesys RFID Information Management System, which utilizes passive RFID tags and active readers inside a data center to identify and track assets. With this software, Contech is able to manage, document and automate hundreds (even thousands) of connections in a typical Data Center as well as track assets in transit, in stock, on the floor, or even in an alternative location. ConTech wished to have a working prototype of the Genesys system ready for presentation at a trade show in early October; Not only was Ayoka able to meet aggressive timelines for this prototype, Ayoka did so while leaving sufficient time to fully test and deliver the system as requested.

“I turned to Ayoka to develop a complex RFID and database application that we wanted to showcase as a new product at an upcoming trade show. Schedules were tight, so I needed a software development company I could trust. Ayoka made me feel comfortable, with their open, collaborative approach. More importantly, Ayoka’s highly competent development team delivered within our aggressive timeframe and budget. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a trusted advisor for enterprise-class software development.”
– Tim Hazzard, President, Connectivity Technologies, Inc.

Boeing – Siemens

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a contract to The Boeing Company and Siemens Corporation to install and maintain explosives detection systems at the 438 U.S. airports serving commercial aviation.  The contract required the team to complete studies of passenger movement, systems architecture designs, structural changes and to coordinate the supply of 1,100 explosive detection system (EDS) machines and up to 6,000 explosive trace detection (ETD) devices.

As part of the Boeing and Siemens team, Ayoka developed the Airport Services System Architecture, to enable new technologies to be introduced to U.S. commercial airports.  The system architecture incorporates supply chain and operational changes necessary to meet new measures for security, customer service, and privacy.

The design incorporates innovative technologies and lateral concepts for operations, plus the capability to share security related information on a regional and national basis.  From the perspective of the Systems Engineering process (Mil-Spec 2167a and IEEE 1220-1998), the Architecture offers a Preliminary Design based on the use cases generally applicable to United States airports governed by the Aviation and Transportation Security Act.

Systems integration was designed to provide a common view and appropriate reaction on security events, including the following systems:

  • Baggage Screening (Primarily Hold Baggage)
  • Baggage Tracking
  • Baggage Reconciliation
  • CCTV
  • Access Control
  • Perimeter Surveillance
  • Network Monitoring & Management
  • Fire Alarm

“In sum, Ayoka can go into a company and identify where lack of automation is hurting the company, and make recommendations on how to create a more automated flow.”

- Rona Shuchat, program director of application outsourcing services for Framingham, Mass.-based IDC
